Vacancies with Way Ahead Care

We are always interested in hearing from those who wish to start or continue a rewarding career in Social Care. Our staff base is our greatest asset and key to ensuring the delivery of the quality care and support we expect.

We deliver care and support to adults of all ages and disabilities using various methods either in the short or long term. This care can be anything from weekly domestic duties, to more complex care and support delivery depending on the individual’s need. We also provide Live-in care where staff stay with the client for up to 2 weeks at a time.

The clients we assist can either purchase their care or support privately or we deliver the services through contracts with the Local Authority. In Somerset we are also fortunate to provide care and support services with 4 Extra Care Housing Schemes in Taunton Deane and Sedgemoor.

Social Care Staff Training

Step Ahead Training Centre is Way Ahead Care’s own dedicated training division. Step Ahead ensure that all new and current staff are comprehensively trained at the beginning and throughout their employment.

All new employees are put through an extensive Induction Programme to enable them to obtain the nationally recognised Care Certificate. Completion of this Certificate is now compulsory for all staff working in Social Care. The Care Certificate gives staff the essential foundation knowledge required to deliver the range of services we offer and provides the solid knowledge base which is required to give the professional standards we expect. These courses include:

  • Company Induction
  • Principles of Safe Manual Handling
  • Medication Awareness
  • Safeguarding
  • Record Keeping
  • Health & Safety for Care & Support Staff
  • Personal Care
  • Equality, Diversity and Challenging Behaviour
  • First Aid
  • Food Hygiene
  • Dementia Awareness & Understanding
  • End of Life

Further to the Care Certificate staff are actively encouraged to enrol on varying levels of nationally recognised qualifications. The qualifications are open to all our staff and are delivered internally by Step Ahead Training. Throughout their employment all staff are encouraged to continue with their own personal development with continual training and internal pathways.

With Way Ahead Care’s ongoing investment into Step Ahead Training, it is also able to commission bespoke training. This benefits staff in direct response to any legislative changes or to a particular client needs as a result of service feedback.
